Bets at the Ready - It's Grand National Time

Posted on 06/04/2016

Thursday 7th April marks the opening of the incomparable Aintree Racecourse for the greatest steeplechase in the world – The Crabbie’s Grand National. 2016 marks the 169th time the meet has been held and over that time it has helped shape the racing landscape, standing at the forefront of the sport as a whole.

This year a £1 million is up for grabs, but the real prize will be for the owners, trainers and jockeys to etch their names onto the roll of honour and immortalize their names among the greats. In all its history none can forget the indomitable Red Rum, the only horse to win three times (1973, 1974 & 1977), or the irreplaceable AP McCoy who rode in this competition for 20 years before retiring in 2015.

Over the course of 3 days millions of people will watch with baited breath as the sound of hooves and excitement fills the air. Lives will be changed, emotions will run high, and the Grand National will make itself heard as the greatest racing spectacle in the world.
