The Cheltenham Festival is recognised worldwide as the pinnacle of the jump race calendar – it is quite simply the Olympic Games of National Hunt racing. Each day of the festival offers spectacular jump racing, building up to the grand finale, the Gold Cup, on Friday. March is always a special time of year for horse racing fans, with hundreds of millions of pounds being bet over the course of 4 days as the sound of the Cheltenham roar is heard resonating for miles around. The racecourse attracts people in the hundreds of thousands to see one of the greatest spectacles in the world.
Each day at the festival is unique, from Champion Hurdle day where the excitement is buzzing in the air, to Ladies Day where fashion takes over providing a more subdued and elegant affair. Thursday brings St. Patrick’s Day with the Irish quickly raising the tempo in time for the Gold Cup on Friday, the jewel in the National Hunt crown.
